This coffee an amazing fully washed bourbon-typica cultivar coffee from the Kayanza Province in Burundi. The beans were harvested from a specialty small plot farmer and were fermented after being fully washed, resulting in a heavily tropical flavor. Passionfruit, grapefruit and orange pop on the palate and is rounded out by accents of lime, while some natural sweetness lends balance and ties all the flavors together.

Natural sweetness in coffee is difficult to capture and is fleeting in the roasting process, as you must catch the roast at the moment when everything comes together perfectly inside the bean in order to preserve the sugars before they evaporate away. However, when you do capture it, the sugar will often elevate the flavor, as is true with this offering. Extremely refreshing, this coffee would be great brewed through drip and pour over or cold brewed, and served hot or over ice.
